Sound healing can be beneficial to healing cancer patients

From ancient times, some important effects have been attributed to the interaction of sound with living systems; in fact, particular instruments were developed to accompany meditation, religious rituals and social ceremonies, in which sound was used to align minds and souls and to create a pervasive coherence of the whole community during solemn festivities

In the human body, sound – a physical vibrational phenomenon inducing resonance – passes through hearing and non-hearing tissues. “Sound Massage” is a term that emphasizes the perception of the vibration by the whole organism. Notably, “Sound Therapy” differs from “Music Therapy”; “sound” is an audible vibration, while “music” is as an artificial product, made up of sounds, that consists of harmony, melody and rhythm [3]. “Sound Therapy” uses sound as a physical phenomenon, with neither rhythm nor melody, to create the optimal resonance between the vibrations of the singing bells and the vibrations of the specific receiver. Sound therapists abstain from melodic structures that could recall previous experiences. Gongs and Tibetan Singing Bowls are traditional instruments used in sound therapy. The resonance of their vibrations with the body of the receiver dictates the optimal modality of sound treatment

Resonance is defined as a phenomenon in which an oscillating system can absorb energy from an external source, with particular efficiency at only one specific frequency. Every physical system – characterized by its own frequencies of oscillation – can enter into resonance with an external source.

A few years ago, a team of biologists amplified and studied sound waves produced by cells; the sound of the cells seems to be related to cell metabolism and to specific gene expressions; distinct vibrations, which join cell surface via the cytoskeleton, seem to be the result of specific DNA assembly and disassembly. This could imply that external vibrations play a role on the modulation of cell activity [12].

Bio-resonance indicates the effects of the sound on human body. It arises at two levels: a mechanical-acoustic level, due to the pressure wave of the sound on every tissue of the body; and an electro-magnetic level, due to the ultra-weak electro-magnetic field created by every sound, affecting bodily water, molecules and cerebral waves.

In my practice, many of my cancer clients experience immense relief of their pain, tension and stress after my sound healing sound bath sessions. Participants of my Hypno-Sound Bath journeys report, that during and after sessions they can “be themselves again”, “talk to the divine or their higher selves”, “could feel that the sound waves were washing away their stress and their illness”, “experienced great state of calm, and being alive at the same time”, and “could sleep like babies – first time in a long time”.

Along with traditional medicine, many of them even achieved remissions, which made me wonder, if there is any research that correlates sound healing and cancer healing. I was happy to find that this area is getting immense attention in the last decade!

For instance, based on research from the University of Michigan, there is a definite response to vibrations created by sound in the hemodynamic, or blood flow system, as well as nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

Sound affects these areas in the following manner:

  • In the hemodynamic system, sound stimulates endothelial cells that are responsible for releasing substances that help with blood clotting, immune function, and vascular relaxation.
  • For neurological or nervous system sound also has positive influence. It stimulates protein kinase which regulates biological protein activation, and also includes nerve stimulation.
  • In the muscular system sound helps muscle stretch reflex and increases bone progenitor cells which function is to replace old damaged cells with new healthy ones.

Moreover, L. Bidin et al (2016) measured the influence of Tibetan singing bowls on the cancer patients. The study involved 12 metastatic cancer patients undergoing 6 sessions with Tibetan Bowls. Based on this research, Tibetan Bowls decreased anxiety, arousal, involuntary mental activity and stress. From the first experiences with Tibetan Singing Bowls in cancer patients, we noticed that they experienced a profound relaxation, a reduction in anxiety and a state of well-being.

Dr. Gaynor, author of the book “The Healing Power of Sound”, was a leading oncologist who used sound healing in his integrative oncology practice. He believed that disease is a form of disharmony since we are all vibrations, and that listening to sound healing instruments brings our bodies back to harmony, as thus, helps cure our body.

By the way, not that long ago FDA approved liver treatment in humans with sound waves.

I absolutely love sound healing modality and include it into almost every session I conduct. Besides, I created a unique experience, called Hypno-Sound Bath that includes hypnosis and the magic of ancient sacred sounds. Bring this experience to your next event!
